Subject: Autistic LUG
To: sparkes@westmids.biz

Greetings from Blackpool!

My 10 year old son (Aspergers & ADHD), Ed, asked me to contact yourselves today. He is mad about Linux in an extreme way. Most of his conversations revolve around Linux, its wonderful applications and how Windows is absolute rubbish.

Although we know quite a few autistic children in Blackpool, none of them are into Linux. Therefore, we thought that if I e-mailed yourselves, we might be able to get in contact with other autistic Linux users.

We have contacted the Blackpool LUG and Ed went to visit there during the summer holidays. We met Mike Hewitt and one of the things that I asked was whether he could set Ed any challenges on Linux. He didn't think that he would set any challenges as Ed appears to know all there is about Linux. The only option he could suggest was game programming. Ed isn't keen to persue this area.

As an autistic group, do you have any ideas as how he could expand his knowledge of Linux?

It would be good to hear from you as I am sure that you will understand Ed's high level of knowledge far better than I do!

Many thanks

Lisa Neil (Mother of techno geek)
Ed Neil (techno geek)

_________________________________________________________________
Be one of the first to try Windows Live Mail.
