Ratpoison - Nah I don't think so! :-)
Cruchbang looks OK if you want something really minimalist. I do use different desktops though so I like my rotating cube.
I am pleased to say don't get dependency problems on Ubuntu.

If we're going for reducing mouse usage then why not go all the way and use something like Ratpoison or any of the other window managers which use similar ideas to Screen or vim windows.
I'm very happy with the default Openbox setup on Crunchbang Linux (other than the dependency hell which is common to all Debian-based systems)
