The Home Office are trying to force their revised internet and email monitoring plans into the speech without asking anyone thinks about them first. In December, a Joint Committee of MPs and peers set up to scrutinise the Bill told them that they had been wrong to publish draft legislation without first consulting the public. Now the Home Office seems like they’re doing their best to make that mistake again. Please write to the Home Office now to ask them to consult on their surveillance plans. It'll just take a couple of minutes. Since the committee published its report, the Home Office has kept its new plans secret so nobody's been able to have a proper say on them. They have met in private with a few internet companies and civil society groups but haven’t given any details about what they’re planning so we haven’t been able to give serious input. We need your help to tell the Home Office they can't just slip their plans to monitor our email, social media and internet browsing into the Queen’s Speech without asking what we all think.
