It is pleasing that the Council did not accept, without further investigation, that only proprietary software could be used. Very good that you forwarded it to local Councillors. It will be interesting to see if anything transpires especially as the Councillors will be forewarned about tactics of proprietary software vendors. I wonder if Microsoft will do their usual price reduction to encourage continued use of their software. There is a lot of talk about IT in schools just now, so if the Council, for example, started using open source then that might mean that schools would start to take a greater interest in it.<br></span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>When I clicked on the link, in Yahoo mail, I got a 'Page not found'. That is only because part of the link had extended to the
following line. I was able to cut and paste with no trouble, but less tech-savy Councillors might not know how to handle that. It might be an idea to use one of the url abbreviating services, such as tinyurl, to circumvent this problem. I think that this is especially important as people might forward the link to others with mail clients that will treat the url differently.
