<div dir="ltr"><div>Darren</div><div><br></div><div>Rather than convert the filesystem, if that's even possible, you could get new 1TB HDD for around £20 - £40, I have just seen a new 1TB HDD on eBay for £22.84. Although that's not a zero amount, it may be the safest approach. You should probably avoid buying a second hand drive unless you have time to test it before use. Also, assuming you have a backup of the data on this drive, you could take the (slightly risky) approach of reformatting the drive and restoring the backup! <br></div><div><br></div><div>As for what filesystem to move to, XFS (for performance) and ext4 (for compatibility) are mature and considered a safe bet. If you want extra features (e.g. snapshots) then Btrfs is now deemed to be mature, even though it had a rocky early life. Your should probably avoid ZFS for single drive configurations as it doesn't give any real advantages and is more complicated to set up and manage.<br></div><div><br></div><div>One other thing, you didn't mention if this is a boot drive or just data storage as it may change your options.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Steve<br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Mon, 2 Dec 2024 at 21:56, Darren Menachem Drapkin via Bradford <<a href="mailto:bradford@mailman.lug.org.uk">bradford@mailman.lug.org.uk</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Bad news & a query,<br>
