Actually I have serious issues with OpenOffice, which is why I've  
moved to Office 2008. But that's beside the point...

You're right that to a lot of people there is no difference between  
Internet Explorer and the Internet, or between Windows and "the  
System" for that matter. We have this big issue, which is partly  
because of Microsoft et al steadily dumbing things down for the last  
twenty years, so most computer users having no clue how computers  
work. I doubt most people could even tell you the difference between  
software and hardware these days.

If you really want to do something for Software Freedom Day, teach  
people about how computers work rather than fixing peoples software  
woes or hard selling the FOSS alternative of the moment. Long term it  
will achieve far more.
