In theory you should be able to set up a VPN pass through in the router setup page.<br> I can't say how exactly cos I don't know what router you have but some of them you just look for a box called VPN pass through and configure an open port there.
<br> At the remote end you tell the VPN setup to look for that port at that IP.<br> That should put a signal on your LAN which ought to spark the machine into life.<br> You don't say what Op Sys you have but it should be possible to set it to "hibernate after x mins" which ought to close it down after you have finished using it.
