[Dundee] bootable DVD

could some one help me? this isnt strictly a linux problem so here goes;  I have recently purchased a DVD drive but i cant seem to boot from it i have set the jumper to master and the jumper of my old cdrom to slave but now the DVD drive cant be detected by my bios.  when i leave the cdrom in master the DVD shows up but cannot be booted from.  also how can i format an hfs drive to fat 32 under windows?
