This might sounds stupid, but why not try Ubuntu or kubuntu as the handle
wireless cards natively, or at least should do, also they are easy to use
and install files etc.

Daniel

i believe the integrated wireless card in your laptop is based on the
atheros chipset

which is supported by the madwifi drivers - http://madwifi.org/

you can confirm this by opening a terminal window and type lspci.

you should see a line containing the words network controller and the name
of the chipset.

if u are unsure. send us the output.

i'll keep looking for a tutorial for installing mad wifi drivers in knoppix.

anyone else have experience with atheros chipset and madwifi. ??

hello,

Would this be of any help if i said that I got VAIO VGN-FS115E ?

in WLAN specifications I got: IEEE 802.11 b/g standard (IBSS Ad hoc mode
compatible).
Isnt it just configuration problem? Its obviously DNS assigned
ip and WPA protected.
