My solution to this was the archos 605

comes in cheaper versions with smaller hd, plays divx, has built in wifi,
touchscreen and comes with tv out cables in rgb format and scart adapter.

(note above link not best price)

(sorry its not exactly open source) although it does run linux.

the source code for the firmware is on archos site and here is a hack to get
root access and ssh working
