Well, it only knows about a single mode (1024x768) and that's set as
the maximum size for the frame buffer so you can't increase that
without adding a virtual line to your xorg.conf.

Are you using the intel or i810 xorg driver?. Looks like i810.

Is this the LCD of a laptop your trying to change? What is its stated
max resolution?
