Probably because there is only one of him, although I seem to recall that 
some of those you'll find on alt.os.linux.slackware, help out.

If you are looking for a new GNU/Linux Distribution it strikes me that 
there seems to be really a choice of two, Debian or Slackware, both of 
which have lasted nearly as long as each other, both of which are the 
source for a lot of the other distro's Ubuntu is after all based on 
Debian, as are a long list of others, the same applies to Slackware, if 
you want a real novelty carry Slax on a 210MB mini CD in your pocket, (why 
are 210 MB CD's more expensive than normal sized ones that use more 
material?), or Knoppix on DVD based I understand on Debian. SUSE, IIRC was 
based on Slackware, and the list goes on, whilst some of the derivatives 
may have some differing approach which can be regarded as 
an 'improvement', the originals still continue, which leads me to believe 
that there must be an advantage to using the foundation on which others 
are built. After all the originals seem to have got it right the first 
time, and have been developed ever since.
