The new TayLUG website is now officially up as it is now transferred to the
new server. A big heartfelt thanks to Scott McGurk for hosting it. In order
to prevent site vandalism and most importantly to prevent being continuously
spammed, a problem that some wikis have, there will be no anonymous logins
or account creation. I will create the accounts, the advantage being that
there will be no restrictions on account holders i.e. They will have full
access, editing & creation on both wiki & blog and generally have the run of
the place. So it is basically keeping the bad guys out whilst letting TayLUG
members do whatever they want.

For account creation all you have to do is send an email to me (from a valid
TayLUG email address) asking an account to be created giving me your
preferred user name. I will create the account and a random password
generated by the wiki will be emailed to you, when you click on the link in
the email just login where you will be prompted for a new password and that
is it. If you want to change your password again later all you do is click
on the special page link in the toolbox and the change password link is
there under users & rights. When you are logged in, to get to your user page
just click on your user name in the top right hand menu and if you want to
add it to the members page just use the same wiki syntax that I have used
(nothing in my page yet I will get round to it later). There is a rich text
editor that can be disabled on login if preferred, go to preferences > Misc
> tick – start rich editor disabled. I have included an online wiki syntax
help under the edit help button. Even if some people have little wiki
experience this could be a good learning opportunity for practising on their
user page, give it a try.

I will create a blog account under the same user name and email a random
generated password with instructions on how to get into the blog admin panel
for changing your password, posting etc.

I will be at the meeting tonight, so I will be available if anyone has any
questions about the wiki and blog.
