Has a the ICO's guide to exemption: my advice is that question 8 gives you the 
gives you the guidance that you require (you are also only processing for 
membership and accounting purposes) and you are not required to notify. 

Note that as you are going to store the information you must still make sure 
that it is current, accurate and should delete whatever records are not 
required (e.g. when a member leaves, which implies that you need to get an 
accurate membership list).  You must also, of course, keep the information 
securely: you only have a get-out-of-jail-free card for notification, not for 
neglect of the other requirements of the Act.

Passing a simple list of names to the Hannah MacLure Centre for admission will 
not violate this ("disclosures other than those made with the 
consent....necessary for this exempt purpose" - the purpose being to hold 
meetings).
An alternative would be to have a recognised membership card (recognised by 
the HMC) that could be waved at the door-wardens when required so that no 
names need be passed, etc. If you are worried about passing the names, you can 
ask members for their explicit permission (permission being the issue).
