It's a moot point for companys in the know now... at a recent interview I mentioned my intentions of doing Abertay's Ethical Hacking MSc (next year if it goes ahead) they were more interested than skeptical.<br><br>First impressions count for a lot, if you don't look and behave like a shady character that will rip companys off (and if your intent is not to rip them off...) they will continue to belive that until you prove otherwise.
<br><br>With recent high profile vulnerabilities, and the proliferation of sites such as myspace - and the resulting attacks upon them, the layman is becoming more interested in security, and thusly those higher up are coming to terms with what a 'hacker' regardless of their color of hat is.
<br><br>I'd like to point out that security has always been an issue, but as the use of computers and the internet spreads more into peoples daily lifes, the more these security issues affect them and by default their awareness and understanding of it increases.
<br><br></2cents><br><br>Also, Welcome to Dundee mate, I've just graduated from Abertay doing straight computing - I'm sure you'll have a laugh (and hopefully learn something too)... hopefully this Ethical hacking course will bring a few more 'hackers' into Dundee and could provide some fresh blood for interesting meets and specialist subject groups.
