I think the real problem with presentations is the range of experience of members... a talk that will present new information to a hardened linux user will most likely be over the head of or irrelevant to someone new, and might even put off those who haven't yet made the switch, yet a basic topic relevant to new users is unlikely to spark a lot of interest from those who've been using linux for a while now.
<br><br>As for kernel compilation, I think that's a really interesting topic however there isn't really a lot to say other than don't be scared, read the help pages, check the relevant boxes, compile and pray. Then repeat till it actually works... not forgetting to keep a liveCD handy in case of emergencies.
<br><br>Anyway as for bringing live CDs, I'll also try and bring some Gentoo ones so the non believers can see that it really doesn't break that much and bow down before the might of portage. <br>I don't think people should be expected to use Ubuntu just because they're new to linux so I think it would be good to have more distros on offer.
