Hehe, kernel re-compiles aren't as scary as they sound, iirc kernelnewbies.org (I may have the url wrong and I'm too lazy to check) have an exceptionally simple set of instructions to follow for exactly this =]

Arron, despite the information being freely available, it's always nice to have some-one colate it and put it into an easily managable format (i.e. a talkthrough on how to install a specific game) It helps people get a better handle on how to use the information that's available to them and can show them a few gotchas to watch out for. I for one would definately be interested in getting World of Warcrack running under Cedega ;) So I say go for it!

Glad to see this list being a bit more active and I'll hopefully see some of you at the next meet (which will me breaking my LUG virginity! :o )

Peace

On 31/03/07,

Erm, I just almost fell off my chair laughing at that. "kernel recompile" O.O Eeeeep, that sounds painful, I've always avoided doing anything kernel related. However, thanks, looking up stuff now. *gulp* ah well. Thanks =)

First of all
To Arron: If people are willing for me to try and do something about Cedega then I can try, but all the information is on their website so I see a lot of talks I could do, like Cedega, as being a little obsolete. Anyway, I can't next time because I'm going home for a week then.

Next, to chris:
I had several issues with Cedega, copy protection, python, dbus, hardware acceleration (OpenGL) but I have it working with two games so far (them being Need For Speed Underground and the original Unreal Tournament) but I'm fairly confident that I could get a few more games running.
If a game you want is officially supported you will have no problem to get it running, don't worry.

As for messing up your kernel. there's nothing a good kernel recompile won't fix *smile*. Speaking of which I finally need to get around to compiling a kernel for my laptop, it still has the annoying on board speaker beep as you probably noticed on thursday plus there are WAAAAAAAAAY too many modules installed... too much bulk *glares at Ubuntu*
