Actually, we played a round with a couple of distros. Most were too big even when we cut way down on the number of packages being installed. The most successful attempt with KDE was using Mandriva 9.2, but even then KDE crashed the first time we tried to load anything after logging in.
<br><br>However, we now have Puppy Linux installed with IceWM looking almost identical to XP, with all the apps Nistur's mum is likely to need in only 430MB. Puppy installed very quickly and easily - I would definitely recommend it to any new users with older hardware. We've also got wifi working for her, which we probably wouldn't have managed under Windows 98.
<br><br>Our only problem now is that his mum had a cd with games on it which we were hoping we could get working under Wine, however the cd isn't even being recognised when it is inserted (whilst other cds are). We'll have more time to look into that later tonight, and if not find some alternative Edutainment software she might like.
