I have a similar problem, however I get no sound at all in any distro. I've tried Ubuntu, Fedora, PCLinuxOS, and I am currently using LinuxMint.<BR>
<BR>
I have tried all the fixes on the Ubuntu forums, and none of them have worked unfortunately.<BR>
<BR>
I have an Acer 6920G if that is of any help.<BR>
<BR>
I would love to have sound so I can actually use Linux for more than typing up coursework.<BR>

<P class=ecxMsoNormal>I’ve been dabbling with Linux for a while now, and have settled on Ubuntu, however, I’ve been battling with an issue for a good number of weeks now. The issue is that I can’t seem to get any sound output in Ubuntu. The type of laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7 2030EA and from what I read, Ubuntu really doesn’t like the HP range. <SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings">L</SPAN></P>

<P class=ecxMsoNormal>I’ve tried to use ndiswrapper, backports, and had a good read of the ubuntu forums and can’t seem to get it sorted which is a shame as if I could get sound output then I’d really have no need to use Windows, or use it less!!</P>
