Since I figured he's probably going to be too modest to make a post
about this himself, huge congratulations to Arron for winning at an
award at the Open Source Awards for “Exemplary advocacy of Open Source
software”.
I'm sure everyone will agree, given all the work he has done at
Abertay Linux Society and SFD, he really deserves this recognition.

Yes, congratulations Arron, hopefully the award in some way
compensates for all those years herding cats... I mean errr Linux
geeks! It's clear that under Arron's stewardship we've become (by
far) one of the most successful Linux groups in the UK; something
which is perhaps indicative of how hard a job it is! Arron's proved
that herding cats is indeed possible... and thankfully that you don't
have to be EDS to do it:

Purely by chance I happened to meet one of the awards organisers
(Alastair Broom) at a management course on Friday/Saturday and he
spoke very highly... maybe even enviously? :-) of the Dundee Linux
scene. So again, congratulations to Arron and everyone else who make
the Dundee Linux/FLOSS scene what it is!

Well thanks guys for all the kind messages of congratulations. As I've
said before i was taken a bit by surprise for the whole thing, from
start to end. I'm very proud to have played a part in the growth of
the Linux Society, and to witness the rejuvenation of TayLUG. I played
such a small part in the end, and without sound like an ubuntu
community manager, it really is all down to the community. I suppose
really what i'm saying is if there wasn't a need for it to be happening
then we wouldn't have had a reason to do it.

I echo Rick's sentiments about really its everyone that contributes to
our linux community, and it is a community we should be proud of.

Thanks Guys
