Hi Davie,

I'm new to Linux myself - I couldn't get to the meeting as I something else on that night. I've tried Ubuntu, Fedora and Red Hat but couldn't really get going with them. I went onto Suse Linux and found that quite easier to get used to, being an old Winows user. And many of the windows programs I use seemed to run, even using Wine which helps to run Windows programs.

I have an installation CD (or is it a DVD?) that you can try out if you like. Feel free to email me about getting it to you if interested.

Kind Regards

Allistair

  Hi Callum

A number of easy questions. Where do you meet up and to what can I do go get ecquainted with linux before the meet.? Experience is a great thing but I don't know of any system near me that runs linux. Maybe a book or a linux magazine? By the way irc.freenode.net did not work.

  DaVIe

  Hi Davie,

Welcome to the list. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Keep an eye on this list for the location and time of the next meeting :D

In the meantime you can chat to us at #falkirklug on irc.freenode.net.

This group is still in the process of re-building itself, so if you don't get an answer to your question here try asking on the Edlug or Scotlug mailing lists.

Also the #scotlug channel is quite active, again this is on irc.freenode.net.

Hope we'll see you at the next meet :D

  Cheers
  Callum
