[Gllug] basic rpm problem.

Hi,

I am trying to install some RPMs and I keep getting the following message:

$ rpm -i libnids-1.16-1.src.rpm
or
# rpm -i libnids-1.16-1.src.rpm
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error: ../libnids-1.16-1.src.rpm cannot be installed

The same error for different packages.  I even got this error whilst trying
to use rpm an a package containing an updated version of rpm...

I am using mandrake 7.2.  Any ideas/suggestions?  Anyone *thinking* of
mentioning Debians superior package management implementation will get a
free 'doze installation CD.
