The Redundant Technology Initiative (http://www.lowtech.org/) are
probably the best known salvage crew, but their interests are specific.

I used to co-ordinate pickups and store quite a lot of gear myself, but
I've mostly depleted my stock now from giveaways.

I still get quite a few tipoffs about stuff going out, though. No
transport myself, and not much space to store - but if there's
sufficient interest, time and space I could be persuaded to join a new
operation. Charity status, if it could be obtained, would open such a
group to a lot of potential salvage from otherwise awkward companies.

RTI do a great job, but I would like to see something else running a
plain and simple collect, store and give-to-whoever-makes-best-case.
