In my experience, this is usually caused by the managesieve perl module
being hooked up to a back end C lib which didn't compile right. If you
haven't installed all of Cyrus, it seems quite likely that you have the
perl module, but not the back end stuff it depends on.

>From memory I think there's a managesieve.so that you will need
compiled, at a minimum. Documentation for Sieveshell is pretty lacking,
and I've never found ti to work that well - it segfaults a lot (though
I've not used recent versions). I tend to use the sieve plugin for
SquirrelMail for my users, which works fine.
