[Gllug] VACANCY - 6 month junior sysadmin contract

Hi,

To cover a 6 month maternity leave, my office is in need of a junior
sysadmin type person for a 6 month period. Environment is about 50 users
on NT desktops, a couple of Macs, servers run Debian or Solaris (or one
NT box - uggh). Involves dealing with users....

Salary somewhat negotiable to experience, but probably about 20-22k
p.a., pro rata.

Experience required is more or less as set out below, but we're happy to
consider a reasonably wide range and can do some training. Any interest,

Required Skills:-

Experience in the installation and administration of  Windows NT 4,
Microsoft Office, and general Win32 applications.

Familiarity with Linux/Solaris administration.

Familiarity with 10baseT networks and the TCP/IP protocol.

Good knowledge of PC hardware.

While not essential, some knowledge of  Perl would be an advantage.

Duties:-

Operating the internal help-desk service for users.

Administration & management of workstations & printers, including
installation and maintenance of application software.

Dealing with backups.

Dealing with hardware problems, including liaising with external
hardware service companies where appropriate.

Management of internal services, set up of new users system and email
accounts.

Preparing reports from in house databases as required by users.

Liaising with users regarding their IT requirements.

Assisting with other duties as required.
