I have a PNY USB flash memory card reader which I bought about 2 years
ago and wondered if it would work with my Mandrake 8.2

So far no success but it's the first time I've attempted to get anything
USB working.

I checked the guide at www.linux-usb.org but it seemed to be aimed at
programmers. What I did manage to glean is that my /proc/scsi/scsi shows:

##################################################################
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: Datafab Model: MDCFE-B USB CF R Rev: 0014
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
##################################################################

Does this mean the device is working?

There was no specific /dev/scsi0 but I found:

/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/generic
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc

In my ignorance I tried mounting these with:

mount -t usbdevfs /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc /mnt/flash

... but no joy.

usbview lists USB CF under USB UHCI Root Hub with the following details:

...
########################################
