   The M$ machines must have TCP/IP running   You need to set up either a
DNS system or at least /etc/hosts on the Linux boxes, also /etc/hosts.deny
and /etc/hosts.allow (see man access) and perhaps dhcp.
   The standard application for communication with M$ is samba, together
with nmbd to provide NetBIOS nameserver support. Samba passwords are entered
and saved separate from standard Linux passwords.
   See the SMB-HOWTO normally supplied with distributions, which may be in
/usr/share/doc or /usr/doc, otherwise you will find plenty of documentation,
with Guides, HOWTOs, and Mini-HOWTOs at The Linux Documentation Project,

   To check the state of the Linux machine's network interfaces type
ifconfig <return>
