   Do you have the option of connecting an additional disc drive to the box?
It is easy to use the new Debian installer (currently still in testing, but
almost ready for release) which will allow you to dual-boot with the
"about-to-be-released" Debian version 3.1 (Sarge) and access all your
original partitions. There will be no need to touch your existing system
unless and until you decide to, and future upgrades should be much easier.
