[Gllug] tweaking memory/optimisation of AMD64

Hi all,
I am setting up a 4 cpu AMD machine with 64 bit Linux, however my
clients are a little disappointed with the performance, in particular
with displaying high definition mpeg4 video (1080i) which can be viewed
under windows 64 at full frame rate (29.93fps). Under Linux most
applications are only giving about 10 fps. The machine has 16GB ram, but
it seems only about 2GB is being used. Is it possible to get the system
to use more memory for swap, etc ? Are there any other recommended
tweaks for AMD64 ? I have recompiled the kernel for AMD64, SMP. The
machine also has 2 NVIDIA graphics cards each with 2 heads which I set
up in a 4 xinerama mode using NVIDIA binary drivers.

Any tips appreciated.

Regards,
Gabriel
