[Gllug] How much space left on a tape...

...is there a way to find this out. I am happily compressing 14GB of
stuff on to a 4GB tape at the moment using .tar.bz2 but fear that, as
data expands, I'll shortly need to look at an alternative - the question
is: how shortly?
