I thought that Intel (and Microsoft) were putting most of their  
effort into promoting EFI (http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/) as a  
complete replacement for BIOS which is already running on the new  
Intel Macs.  It has the ability to use modules, one of which can be  
used for compatibility with OSes which require a BIOS to be present.
