[Gllug] Problem upgrading disk-less system to Etch

This is apparently a known problem in Debian Etch.  Bug numbers 388761
and 388814 cover it.  There's a work-around for the NFS mount problem
(put ASYNCMOUNTNFS=no in /etc/default/rcS) but that's not addressing the
real issue.

The problem seems to be with dhclient which, when first asked to take
control of a link, drops it.  If you're on a diskless workstation you're
then FUBARed.  AFAICT, there is currently no fix for this.  You just
have to leave the link in a half-configured state.
