The new xorg.conf's are really lightweight and useless for debugging.

Mine (machine generated) starts with:

Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier	"Generic Keyboard"
	Driver "kbd"
	Option "XkbRules"	"xorg"
	Option "XkbModel"	"pc105"
	Option "XkbLayout"	"gb"
	Option "XkbOptions"	"lv3:ralt_switch"
EndSection

I'm tired and not up to much debugging this evening. This may help:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Debugging

if you are still stuck I'll look again tomorrow.
