A lot of high end pro audio kit uses it, mixers, soundcards, effects
processors etc. It's held in far higher regard than USB in those
circles. Most manufacturers only support the TI chipset and there are
many tales of woe trying to use others. This is a little sad as
virtually no laptops use the TI chipset, Mac being a notable exception.
It also partly explains why some firewire cards cost upwards of 60 quid
and some cost less than a tenner!
