Regarding LVM, here's a small tip for SuSE users.
If you attach an LVM disk to a system which formerly had no LVM, it
won't mount at boot time.

The solution is:               chkconfig --add boot.lvm

This may sound obvious - but it took me a darn long time to figure it out.
