old (and please don't top post).  Nor am I sure what a "dongle" is for
this purpose.  However, if you mean you have a USB stick which has the
installation images for 32-bit ubuntu on it, I am not at all surprised
that 32-bit ubuntu won't install on a modern UEFI computer. 32-bit UEFI
is not widely supported.

The first thing to do is to try 64-bit ubuntu, or even better try
64-bit fedora as suggested in my posting of earlier this morning.
