Thanks for the empathy !

Tried unplugging for a while, power out et al. nothing comes on
the screen - not even the menu. I think I will leave it off over night
and see how it is tomorrow.

Tried swapping with an old 15" which I had on xinerama. Cables
and card work fine.

Thing is it was sold out of box - at a discount ! so I am not sure about
warranty. I always seem to loose the paper work ! It is only say 12
months old to me.

if you unplug, leave it for a while and then turn it on again what happens?
nothing,nothing ?
Also I assume that you cannot get the onscreen menu for the monitor either...
or can you?
I had a similar problem with my Dell 17" monitor, luckily it happen a month
before it's 3 year warranty expired, so Dell gave me a brand new replacement.
I would also test your graphics card with a working monitor.

Hey people,
I usually just read the [GLUG] traffic...... but
I switched on my machine today and my pride 19" Samsung monitor
had a black-screen-of-death. Can't get anything on the screen.
I checked all the cables/cards etc - all the easy stuff.
The little coloured LED at the front tells me it is seeing a signal but...
Any ideas ? don't tell me to turn up the brightness [already tried that :)

Tell me they weren't serious about that warning in the XF86 manual !
It was running below maximum resolution, but pushing the bandwidth
I guess....
Help ! - anyone need their washing done - need cash pronto !
