Thanks for all of your input guys. I have managed to get them
to agree to £200 per day. As this is my first consultancy job
ever and the company is very small (3 staff and 2 PCs) I don't think
that this is too bad. I don't have to chase them for payment as
they have already transferred yesterday's money in to my account!

I'm also being given a place to stay here for the duration (1 week
contract) and am having my meals cooked for me every night.

After this job I feel confident in asking for £300 per day and will
work my way up from there.

Thanks again everyone,

[Gllug] Consultancy Question
From: Paul Kathro

gllug@gllug.org.uk

Hi guys,

I have been asked to analyse
a small network and create a reliable
backup system and security
setup for it. Having never done consultancy
work before I was
wondering if you guys had any idea what I should
charge. I
don't want to ask for too much but I don't want to be doing
all this
work for less than I deserve.

I hope this doesn't sound too much
like the old "How long is a piece of
string?" question but I wasn't
sure if anyone knew of any guidelines or
methods of coming up with a
figure when doing consultancy work of
this
type.

Thanks,

Paul.

--
Gllug mailing
