Performance Co-pilot works as a daemon (pmcd).
You configure which parameters it logs in /var/lib/pcp/config/pmlogger
You can log to local didk, or to a remote logging host

The 'pminfo' command on the system I'm working on shows 693 parameters are available for logging.

You can retrieve and graph these values in bar charts (etc) from a remote system.

Also you can use 'pmie' (pm inference engine) to send alerts if the parameters are going too how or low,
eg. filesystems filling up or swap space running low (etc. etc.)
