If I had a posting about me not being able to sign in, please ignore
this, as I hope that I have access to the mailing list now. At least,
when I attempted to sign in, the email bounced back and said that I have
already been signed in. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, here is my problem:
I was at the point a while ago, where I wanted to start using Linux, but
as I have a problem using it wirelessly, unfortunately had to return to
Windows XP. It must just be me, because my colleague has managed to get
it working. This is what I have:
A Netgear DG834GT router
A Netgear network adapter (WG111T).
Some people say that Netgear does not have Linux drivers and others say
that you can use any router with any Linux. It just depends how you set
your system up. I obviously have set it up wrongly because it doesn't
work on any flavor, not even Ubuntu. In the end I would love to use
openSuse, because it has a lot of treasures that come out of the box.

First of all, thanks for all your help.
Using the Internet on Linux is a catch-22 situation for me. At the
moment, I want to install openSuse, which I don't have yet, but I think
that SLED (which I do have) is more or less equivalent. I hope that the
32bit version does boot up from the live DVD this time - I am not
holding my breath though :-) . In any case, I have to use Windows,
because I need to print the web page of the help forum from the links
sent to me.
The WG111T USB network adapter uses an Atheros chipset I think. All the
web pages I have visited unfortunately tell you different things. One
says "no drivers exist" and others say "it depends how you configure
your system". Who would you believe.
Please be patient with me, as I am a newbie at Linux. People say as a
newbie, you should use Ubuntu, but I prefer openSuse / SLED. Besides,
these disros use KDE and Konqueror rather than Gnome and Nautilus as the
file manager (I digress though).

I have used Kubuntu and wireless doesn't on that either. I think I've
tried even the non-popular ones like Mepis and Gentoo. OpenSuse I like
the best though. I have 10.3, but can't get it to work, even though it
supposedly work out of the box. This out of box indicates that without
doing or configuring anything, the blue flashing light will come on and
it'll work. It doesn't though. I cannot give up yet even though all the
Linux Magazine guides out there focus on Ubuntu..<br>

listen, everyone was a newcomer to Linux at one time. Besides, isn't
that what forums are for? Like the Linux Format ones, and the countless
