[Herts] sound advice

Can anyone advise?
We have received various audio devices for Christmas -
DAB Radio - mp2
Video camera - mp3 (as well as digital video with sound)
CD's - wav

Can some sound expert recommend a basic but decent program to convert 
between the various formats - probably to get them all to mp3.
Bells and whistles not necessary!
Ease of use desirable.
It's mainly for Gail, who uses Windows XP (various excuses)
But she would be easily won over to one of the Linux systems to use a 
suitable program.
