I am in a dilemma (nice motor, as the old joke goes) - I have
not been to a meeting of the Welwyn Hatfield Environmental
Network for probably over a year, and it only comes round
every three months, and it is on tonight at 7.30pm in WGC.
So I think I will have to go to that, but I may be along to
HertsLUG afterwards.

In Mac OS X "rename" is not a command, but it is a BSD system
call (that can be called from C if you include stdio.h).
Fortunately I have a shell account on a Debian box where
rename is a command, though not really a traditional one, as
/usr/bin/rename is a perl script. If I wasn't so rusty on
perlexpr I could explain it no problem - I will see if I have
time to swat up and may see you tonight.

If you are looking for people to pay an annual sub then
count me in - if I don't make it tonight then I can hand over
the dosh next time (assuming it is roughly comparable to last
year's sub).

Ian
