You could just setup 'cp' as an alias for 'cp -f' I would think.

That should be enough to stop it prompting.

Sometimes the simplest things defeat me ... I've got a Redhat 7.1
installation
where the cp command always asks me to confirm overwriting, which I
would like
to turn off. The info page shows an option to turn this on, but not to
turn it
off. I thought maybe an alias was set up - my .bashrc refers to
/etc/bashrc,
which I can't understand but doesn't seem to refer to cp at all. Any
tips?
