A good compromise is to run a testing system, and then use package
pinning to hold some broken packages back at staple and the packages
where you want to latest stuff from sid.
The downside of this is that security updates introduced into Sid don't
tend to filter through to testing until a while after they are released.
There has been a big thread about this on one of the debian
maillinglists in the last few days.
