...just had a look thru the SuSE documentation that came with v8.1 
and can't see anything that prohibits copying, although the web site 
states that the CD/DVD version includes "a few program packages 
[that] have been excluded [from their FTP download version] due to 
license reasons."

So, as long as you promise not to install those programs (whatever 
they are), then I'm happy to run off copies :-)
