well if u install an irc server, there's a couple of cgi irc clients, also,
there's a couple of php classes to do same on php-classes.org.

one thing i would suggest is if you do use an irc server is that u set MAX
nicklen (nick length) to something useful such as 15 :P if you need any help
setting it up let me know. same for IRC bots etc.
