I&#39;ve seen problems in the past caused by Linux Format disks with &#39;extras&#39; on them. You might be better reinstalling with the stock ubuntu and then adding any extras you want.<br><br>On the times that you have had an internet connection have you made sure that you&#39;ve updated the system with apt-get? There seems to have been a lot of bug fixes since the release of hardy.<br>
<br>Also you say you have 2 ubuntus and 2 vistas - Am I correct in assuming that one of the ubuntus is labeled as safe mode?<br><br>dan<br>
