OK, here are a couple of ideas for a workshop / KLUG activity....

Talk idea 1: "System specification and configuration"

Someone in the audience comes up with a profile of a real or imaginary Linux user that needs a Linux system ASAP.
Then the presenter (with or without the help of an assistant) does a live demo on how to produce high spec Open Source ICT system to meet the needs of this given user,
including:
1) a working system on which Linux is installed and configured to meet that user’s needs
2) recommendations for ensuring safety and security,
3) an explanation of any software development.

Talk idea 2: "Open Source Program design, production and testing"

A KLUG developer could present a python program that they have developed, including:
1) A description of a Python program specification that meets a given requirement
2) how to consider the user’s needs
3) an analysis of the finished design identifying its strengths and weaknesses
include data structure, data types, control structures and all appropriate operators
4) test documentation including a test plan with valid, invalid and boundary data, expected results,
actual results and changes identified as a result of testing;
5) plus a program review and evaluation report including an evaluation of the developers' own performance.
6) We could then all evaluate the program and review it, and maybe suggest further improvements.
All our opinions about the Program could be recorded and put onto a wiki......

Colin assures me that they don't have to be computer
related, or linux related. They can be on pretty much anything (tho
perhaps avoiding the big three is a good idea*). So suggestions on what
you would like as a talk.

If you want some ideas on non computery stuff I may be able to do a talk
on, I shall shamelessly plug my website - http://quixotic.eu/

Other wise, feel free to nominate a computery subject and I shall see if
I can research it enough for a 400 second presentation on it.

Right, waffle over, give me some ideas.
