Twigathy,<br><br>Yes - it was APIC. (APCI is fine, but the symptoms I described pointed <br>towards an interrupt problem and behold noapic fixed it.) I was a bit <br>baffled about how to get it in - given that it's not even installed so <br>no grub entry to modify. However the installer did have some options <br>for setting kernel flags and that was enough. Helpfully the installer <br>then put the same option in the grub file.<br><br>The question remains as to why the kernel I was using under 7.10 was <br>fine with APIC enabled on that hardware and the latest is not. <br>Something I suspect I don't have the energy to dig through given the <br>number of patches in between and the length of my to-do list.
