I have installed this <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://italc.sourceforge.net/">http://italc.sourceforge.net/</a>
but never use it. It might do what you want. Or you could use
something like <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.yuuguu.com">www.yuuguu.com</a>
and students can just view the presentation in a web browser, no client
required.<br>

Good luck though finding a usable solution. I think this is one
application that is missing from Linux.<br>
